Despoblación, Desarraigo y Memoria
Video Editor, Colourist
Pobladura de Sotiedra is a village slowly being swallowed by time. Its empty houses crumble, its traditions fade, and the echoes of past lives grow quieter with each passing year. Despoblación, Desarraigo y Memoria, directed by Sofía Corral, is a documentary that captures this vanishing world through the work of artist Azucena Carbajosa Rodríguez. Her art is a rebellion against disappearance, through photography, archival research, and personal memories, she pieces together what remains of a place she refuses to forget.
When Sofía asked me to edit the film, she brought a strong script, thoughtful footage of the village, and a collection of old photographs from Azucena. My role was to shape these elements into a cohesive story that didn’t just document the past but made its loss feel real.
This documentary isn’t just about a single village, it’s about identity, belonging, and the ongoing disappearance of rural communities. It was an honour to help tell this story and give a voice to a place that still matters.
